The pains of "Shared Responsability"
I think it is important to highlight that in so many of these cases, we simply have a breakdown in understanding the role of ISVs on AWS, and AWS in terms of shared responsibility for cloud.  In an upcoming piece on DR, I'll be diving into this more, but I think Kelly does a fantastic job at outlining the outcomes of this confusion over shared responsibilities and the lack of effective Cloud DevOps/Configuration Management.  One of the most effective steps an organization can make is to baseline their service attributes, performance and behaviors and monitor over time for deviations and anomalies that should be called out. This is really the domain of automated machine-learning technologies to hunt for the risky behaviors and conditions and then to remediate. Great article, Kelly!
